Recipe Description
Spicy, flavorful, and irresistibly delicious, this Jamaican Jerk Tofu is marinated in a homemade jerk sauce that’s bursting with flavor, then baked to perfection. A fantastic vegan twist on a Jamaican favorite.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 Scotch bonnet pepper, de-seeded and chopped (optional)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Steps:
- In a blender, combine soy sauce, vegetable oil, apple cider vinegar, lime juice, garlic, ginger, green onions, Scotch bonnet pepper if using, brown sugar, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth.
- Place the tofu slices in a bowl and pour the marinade over them, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the marinated tofu slices on the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is firm and the edges are crispy.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
