Recipe Description
Delightfully flaky and buttery croissants made entirely without dairy or animal products. Perfect for an indulgent breakfast or a treat on special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp instant yeast
- 1 1/4 cups plant-based milk, lukewarm
- 1 cup vegan butter, cold and cubed
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- Soy milk and agave syrup, for glazing
Steps:
- Combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.
- Add the lukewarm plant-based milk and mix to form a dough.
- Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until elastic.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, and distribute the cubed vegan butter across 2/3 of the surface. Fold and roll several times to incorporate layers.
- Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
- Place the croissants on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the croissants with a mixture of soy milk and agave syrup.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
