Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayon pepper
- Oil for frying
Steps:
- Slice the green tomatoes and set aside.
- Mix the almond milk and apple cider vinegar in a bowl to create a ‘buttermilk’.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Dip each tomato slice into the ‘buttermilk’, then dredge in the cornmeal-flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the tomato slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
