Recipe Description

Kinpira Gobo is a traditional Japanese dish featuring sautéed burdock root. Its earthy flavor and crunchy texture make it a unique and nutritious side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups burdock root, julienned
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Steps:

  1. Soak julienned burdock root in water for 10 minutes, then drain.
  2. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add burdock root and carrot. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and chili flakes if using. Reduce heat and cook until most of the liquid has evaporated.
  4. Serve garnished with sesame seeds.
