Ingredients
- 2 cups canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 green chili, slit lengthwise
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp amchur (dry mango powder)
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
Steps:
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
- Add onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Stir in ginger, garlic, and green chili. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Mix in tomato puree and cook until oil separates from the mixture.
- Stir in chickpeas, water, and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add garam masala and amchur. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.
