Vegan Inari Sushi is a delightful sushi variation where sushi rice is tucked into pockets of seasoned tofu, creating a sweet, savory, and slightly tangy taste. Perfect for special occasions or as a delightful meal, this dish offers a comforting taste of Japanese cuisine tailored for vegan preferences.
Ingredients
- 330ml water
- 50ml rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 10 inari tofu pockets
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
Steps:
- Rinse the sushi rice until the water runs clear. Combine with water and cook in a rice cooker or pot.
- Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved.
- When the rice is cooked, fold in the vinegar mixture gently. Allow to cool to room temperature.
- Gently open the inari tofu pockets.
- Mix the cool sushi rice with sesame seeds, then spoon the rice into each tofu pocket.
- Serve immediately or keep chilled until serving.
