Recipe Description

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup vegan butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Steps:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- In a large bowl, cream together the vegan butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the applesauce and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut into desired shapes.
- Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
