Recipe Description
Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, these vegan bitterballen are filled with a savory mushroom and onion mixture, encased in crunchy breadcrumbs.
Ingredients
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Steps:
- Melt vegan butter in a pan and sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add mushrooms and soy sauce, cook until mushrooms are soft.
- Stir in flour to form a roux, then gradually add vegetable broth to make a thick mixture. Season with salt and pepper, then chill until firm.
- Form mixture into balls, roll in breadcrumbs, and deep-fry until golden brown.
