Topped with a velvety vegan chocolate ganache, this cake is a treat for all senses, perfect for any occasion or simply as a sweet escape.

    Ingredients

    • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
    • 1 cup cold water
    • Icing or powdered sugar (optional)

    Steps:

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or line with parchment paper.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and granulated sugar.
    3. Add the oil, vanilla, vinegar, and water to the bowl. Mix until smooth. The batter will be thin.
    4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
    5. Bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
    6. Dust with icing sugar or frost with your favorite vegan frosting before serving, if desired.
