Recipe Description
A delightful vegan take on the classic Indian street food, Pani Puri. Crunchy puris filled with spicy-tangy water and a savory filling.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup boiled chickpeas
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 3 cups cold water
Steps:
- Mix semolina, salt, and warm water to knead a firm dough. Cover it and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Roll out small portions of dough and form small circles. Deep fry these circles till they puff up and turn golden brown.
- Prepare the spicy pani by blending mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilies, tamarind paste, jaggery, and spices with water.
- Mix boiled potatoes and chickpeas with chaat masala, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt for the filling.
- Poke a small hole on top of each puri, fill it with the potato-chickpea mixture.
