Recipe Description

Crispy, beer-battered vegan fish served with golden, chunky chips, capturing the essence of this British classic without the fish!

Ingredients

  • 4 sheets of nori
  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 1 cup of beer
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 large potatoes, cut into chips
  • Vegetale oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges and tartar sauce to serve

Steps:

  1. Wrap the tofu block with nori sheets and cut into ‘fish’ fillet shapes.
  2. Make the batter by whisking together beer, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Dip each tofu fillet into the batter.
  4. Fry the chips in hot vegetable oil until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  5. Fry the battered tofu fillets until crispy and golden.
