Recipe Description
This Vegan Couronne Bread is a stunning French-inspired recipe perfect for any festive occasion. The dough, enriched with almond milk and olive oil, creates a beautifully soft texture that contrasts with the sweet, cranberry and pecan filling. Braided into a crown shape, this bread not only tastes delicious but also makes a visually impressive centerpiece, suitable for any celebration or gathering.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm almond milk
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Steps:
- Combine warm almond milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Set aside to activate yeast, about 10 minutes.
- Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the center, pour in yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix to form a soft dough.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Combine cranberries, pecans, orange zest, and maple syrup in a bowl.
- Slice the roll in half lengthwise, then twist the two strands around each other, keeping the cut sides facing up. Form a circle and pinch ends together.
- Transfer to a baking sheet, cover lightly, and let rise for another 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before serving.
