Recipe Description

Vegan Karask is a delightful spin on the traditional Estonian barley bread. This recipe substitutes dairy and eggs with vegan-friendly alternatives while retaining the authentic, hearty texture and slightly sweet, comforting flavor that Karask is known for. Ingredients

  • 2 cups barley flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Combine soy milk, maple syrup, oil, and apple cider vinegar in another bowl.
  4. Mix wet ingredients into dry until just combined.
