Ingredients

  • 2 cups red kidney beans, soaked overnight
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cups water
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Steps:

  1. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker or large pot.
  2. Add cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.
  3. Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add tomato puree, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until oil separates from the mixture.
  6. Stir in garam masala and adjust seasoning.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
