A hearty and flavorful bowl of shiitake mushrooms over steamed rice, infused with traditional Japanese flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 lb shiitake mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 1 tablespoon sake
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 4 green onions, sliced
- Pickled ginger, for serving
Steps:
- Rinse the sushi rice until the water runs clear, then combine with water in a rice cooker and cook.
- Clean and slice the shiitake mushrooms.
- In a pan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the shiitake mushrooms to the pan and cook until tender.
- Serve the cooked shiitake mushrooms over the steamed rice.
