Crispy, golden, and absolutely irresistible, these Classic Vegan Patacones are a staple in Latin American cuisine, served perfectly as a savory snack or a side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 green plantains
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Steps:

  1. Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Fry plantain slices for about 2 minutes on each side until they are lightly golden.
  4. Remove the plantains from the oil and flatten each piece to about 1/2 inch thick with the bottom of a glass or plate.
