Recipe Description

Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts are a delicious, easy-to-make side dish perfect for any occasion. This recipe transforms the humble Brussels sprout into a caramelized, flavorful delight with the addition of balsamic vinegar and a touch of maple syrup. The outer leaves turn crispy in the oven, while the centers become tender and sweet. This dish not only brings a sophisticated flavor profile to your table but also packs a nutritional punch, making it a favorite for both health-conscious individuals and those looking to enjoy the deeper flavors of roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • Optional: 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds or crushed walnuts for garnish

Steps:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Brussels sprouts by washing them, trimming the ends, and cutting them in half. This helps them cook evenly and get nice and crispy.
  3. Toss the sprouts. In a large bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper until they are well coated. Spread them out on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, cut sides down.
  4. Roast the Brussels sprouts in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender on the inside and crispy on the edges. Halfway through, give the pan a shake or use a spatula to turn the sprouts for even browning.
  5. Glaze the sprouts. In the last 5 minutes of roasting, drizzle the balsamic vinegar and maple syrup over the Brussels sprouts, then return them to the oven to finish caramelizing.
  6. Serve. Once done, transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving dish. If desired, garnish with pomegranate seeds or crushed walnuts for an extra burst of flavor and texture.
  7. Enjoy your Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts warm, as the perfect complement to any main course.
