Crafted with a blend of aromatic vegetables, herbs, and spices, this bouillon serves as an excellent base for soups, stews, and sauces, enriching any dish with its robust flavor profile. Designed to meet the dietary needs of vegans and those looking to reduce their meat intake, this recipe emphasizes sustainability and nutrition without compromising on taste. The preparation process is straightforward, allowing both novice and experienced cooks to easily incorporate this essential component into their culinary repertoire. By choosing high-quality, organic ingredients, you ensure that the bouillon not only enhances the taste of your meals but also contributes to a healthy, ethical lifestyle.
Ingredients
- 3 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 cups water
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
Steps:
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add carrots, celery, onion, and garlic. Sauté until vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add water, bay leaves, thyme, turmeric, and peppercorns. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes.
- Strain the broth through a fine sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Season with salt to taste.
- Let the bouillon cool to room temperature, then transfer to storage containers. It can be refrigerated for up to 1 week or frozen for up to 3 months for future use.
