    Vegan Bratwurst

    Recipe Description

    Enjoy the rich and authentic flavors of traditional German Bratwurst with a vegan twist. This perfectly spiced faux sausage combines vital wheat gluten and tofu for a meaty texture, while smoked paprika and fennel seeds impart a delightful depth of flavor. Serve these vegan Bratwursts with sauerkraut and a dollop of mustard for a genuine German dining experience.

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup tofu, firm, pressed and crumbled
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground fennel
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
    • 1 cup vegetable broth
    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

    Steps:

    1. In a large bowl, combine vital wheat gluten, crumbled tofu, soy sauce, spices, and garlic.
    2. Gradually add vegetable broth, mixing until a dough forms.
    3. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape each into a sausage.
    4. Wrap each sausage tightly in foil.
    5. Steam for 20 minutes, then unwrap and pan-fry with vegetable oil until crisp and browned.
