A hearty and flavorful dish of black beans slowly simmered with spices and herbs, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups dried black beans
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 6 cups water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Steps:
- Rinse black beans and soak overnight.
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic; sauté until soft.
- Drain beans and add to the pot along with 6 cups of water, cumin, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about 2 hours or until beans are tender.
- Adjust seasoning as needed. Serve garnished with fresh cilantro.
