Recipe Description

A hearty and flavorful dish of black beans slowly simmered with spices and herbs, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried black beans
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Steps:

  1. Rinse black beans and soak overnight.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic; sauté until soft.
  3. Drain beans and add to the pot along with 6 cups of water, cumin, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about 2 hours or until beans are tender.
  5. Adjust seasoning as needed. Serve garnished with fresh cilantro.
