Recipe Description
Gomaae, a delightful Japanese dish that pairs the nutritional powerhouse of spinach with the rich, nutty flavor of sesame dressing, has been a staple in Japanese cuisine for centuries. Our vegan version of this traditional dish retains all the authentic flavors while ensuring it is accessible to those following a plant-based diet. The dish starts with blanching fresh spinach until it’s perfectly tender, then it’s gently squeezed to remove excess water to achieve the ideal texture. The magic happens in the sesame dressing – a harmonious blend of toasted sesame seeds ground into a fine powder, soy sauce for that umami depth, sugar for a hint of sweetness, and a dash of salt to balance the flavors. This vegan Gomaae is not only easy to make but also incredibly versatile, serving as a refreshing appetizer, a nutritious side dish, or even a light main when you’re seeking something wholesome yet satisfying. Whether you’re new to Japanese cuisine or a seasoned enthusiast, this vegan Gomaae is bound to impress with its simplicity and profound flavors.
