Recipe Description

These tempting vegan gyozas are filled with a savory mixture of vegetables and tofu, pan-fried to perfect crispiness on the bottom and then steamed to tenderness. A delightful appetizer to start any meal with.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot
  • 200g firm tofu, crumbled
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 30 vegan gyoza wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Water for steaming
  • Soy sauce and vinegar for dipping

Steps:

  1. In a large bowl, combine cabbage, mushrooms, carrot, crumbled tofu, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each gyoza wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold, pleating the edges to seal.
  3. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Place gyozas in the pan and fry until the bottoms are golden brown.
  4. Add a small amount of water to the pan, cover, and steam the gyozas for about 5 minutes, or until the water has evaporated.
  5. Serve hot with a side of soy sauce and vinegar for dipping.
