Recipe Description

Methi Thepla is a traditional Gujarati flatbread that’s both nutritious and delightfully flavorful. This vegan version uses fresh fenugreek leaves and whole wheat flour, creating a perfect harmony of earthy tones and spices. Ideal for any time of the day, Methi Thepla serves excellently with yogurt or pickled vegetables. It’s also travel-friendly, making it a great option for picnics or packed lunches.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup chopped fresh fenugreek leaves (methi)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed for kneading

Steps:

  1. In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour, chopped fenugreek leaves, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, and salt.
  2. Add oil to the flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
  3. Gradually add water to the mixture and knead it into a soft dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle using a rolling pin.
  6. Serve hot with your choice of side.
