Recipe Description

Savor the delightful crunch of these homemade vegan samosas, a beloved Indian snack perfect for any occasion. Each samosa is stuffed with a flavorful mixture of cooked potatoes, peas, and an aromatic blend of spices, all wrapped in a crisp, golden pastry that’s entirely plant-based. Ideal for serving at parties or as a hearty lunch, these samosas are sure to impress both vegans and non-vegans alike.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • Water, as needed for dough
  • Oil, for frying

Steps:

  1. Mix flour, oil, and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water and knead into a stiff dough. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds. When they splutter, add turmeric, chili powder, and diced potatoes. Cook until potatoes are soft.
  3. Add peas, garam masala, and salt to the pan. Cook for another 5 minutes. Add cilantro and remove from heat.
  4. Divide dough into balls. Roll each into a thin oval shape, cut it in half, and form each piece into a cone. Fill with potato mixture, seal the edges with water.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pan. Fry samosas until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
