Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 100ml water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped spring onions for garnish

Steps:

  1. Wrap tofu in a paper towel and press to remove excess water. Cut into cubes.
  2. Toss tofu cubes with cornstarch until fully coated.
  3. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and fry tofu until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add soy sauce, maple syrup, ginger, garlic, water, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer until the sauce thickens.
  5. Return tofu to the pan, toss with the teriyaki sauce, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
