    Recipe Description

    This creamy and tangy vegan buttermilk pie is a classic Southern dessert, reimagined without any animal products. The filling is rich and custardy, with a delightful tang from the vegan buttermilk, all nestled in a flaky, homemade pie crust.

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup vegan butter, melted
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 cup vegan buttermilk (mix 3/4 cup plant milk with 2 tsp lemon juice)
    • 3 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 3 tbsp water
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

    Steps:

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    2. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, melted vegan butter, and flour until well combined.
    3. Stir in the vegan butilk, cornstarch mixture, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until smooth.
    4. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the pie is set and the top is lightly golden.
