Recipe Description

Soft, chewy, and purely vegan, these classic pretzels will satisfy your snack cravings with a perfect twist. Enjoy them warm with your favorite mustard or vegan cheese dip for a traditional German treat anytime.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 10 cups water (for boiling)
  • 2/3 cup baking soda
  • Coarse salt for topping

Steps:

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add baking the soda.
  6. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then place on a baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 12-15 mins until golden brown.
