    Ingredients

    • Salt to taste
    • 2 cups of vegetable oil for frying

    Steps:

    1. Peel the green plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
    2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the plantain slices for about 3 minutes on each side, or until they are light golden but not brown.
    3. Remove the plantains from the oil and flatten them using a tostonera or the bottom of a glass jar.
    4. Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they are crispy and golden brown.
    5. Drain the tostones on paper towels and season with salt while still hot.
