Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice, rinsed and drained
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cloves
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 2 cardamom pods
- 1/2 cup chopped carrots
- 1/2 cup peas
- 1/2 cup chopped green beans
- 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
- 1.5 cups water
- Salt to taste
Steps:
- Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, and cardamom pods. Sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the chopped vegetables and stir for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the basmati rice and sauté for another 2 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
