Ingredients

  • 4 large green plantains
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Steps:

  1. Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Fry the plantain slices for about 3 minutes on each side or until lightly golden.
  4. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  5. Using a tostonera or the bottom of a glass, flatten each slice to about half its thickness.
  6. Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt, and serve hot.
