Saag Aloo is a vibrant and delicious Indian dish that combines silky spinach with hearty potatoes, seasoned to perfection with aromatic spices. Each bite offers a tantalizing taste of India, suitable for a comforting dinner or a nutritious lunch. This dish is not only a staple in Indian cuisine but also a favorite for those seeking a flavorful, plant-based meal.

    Ingredients

    • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
    • 1 large onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
    • 1 teaspoon turmeric
    • 1 teaspoon garam masala
    • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

    Steps:

    1. Heat oil in a large pan and add cumin seeds until they start to crackle.
    2. Add the cubed potatoes and stir-fry until they are lightly browned.
    3. Add onions, garlic, and ginger to the pan, cooking until the onions are soft and golden.
    4. Stir in turmeric, garam masala, coriander, and chili powder, cooking for about 1 minute.
    5. Add the chopped spinach and water, and cover the pan. Cook on low heat for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked through and the spinach is wilted.
