This Spicy Thai Basil Tofu Stir-Fry combines the aromatic essence of Thai cuisine with the healthful benefits of tofu. Sautéed crispy tofu is tossed with vibrant veggies and infused with a bold sauce that features garlic, Thai basil, and a hint of chili. Perfect for a quick dinner, this dish is both satisfying and flavorful, catering to anyone desiring a taste of Southeast Asia from the comfort of their home.

Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili paste
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp water

Steps:

  1. Press and cube the tofu. Set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the garlic and onion to the pan and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Increase the heat to high and add the tofu cubes. Fry until golden brown.
  5. Add the red and green bell peppers, and stir for about 2 minutes.
  6. Stir well, ensuring everything is coated with the sauce.
  7. Add the Thai basil leaves and stir until they just begin to wilt.
  8. Serve hot.
