Recipe Description
Delicious hand-held pasties filled with a mixture of vegetables and seasoned to perfection. Ideal for picnics and afternoon snacks.
Ingredients
- For the pastry:
- 350g plain flour
- 175g vegan butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Cold water as needed
- For the filling:
- 1 small potato, diced
- 1 small swede (rutabaga), diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 75g peas
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps:
- To make the pastry, mix flour and salt, then rub in butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add cold water slowly until a dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Roll out dough on a floured surface and cut into rounds.
- Mix together all filling ingredients in a bowl.
- Spoon filling onto one half of each pastry round.
- Place pasties on a baking sheet, bake for 45 minutes or until golden.
