Fluffy and soft steamed bao buns filled with a delicious and hearty mushroom mixture, perfect for any vegan feast.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 cup warm water
- For the filling:
- 200g mushrooms, chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
Steps:
- Prepare the dough for buns by mixing flour, sugar, yeast, and baking powder. Gradually add warm water to form a dough. Knead until smooth, then cover and let it rise.
- For the filling, sauté mushrooms, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, green onions, and garlic until cooked.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal parts. Roll each part into a ball, then flatten and fill with the mushroom mixture.
- Steam the bao buns for about 20 minutes until they have expanded and are fluffy.
- Serve immediately while hot.
